    Chapter Index

Yu Xiucheng looked sideways at her, noncommittal.

“Ten years ago, Yan Lang was transferred to the branch where your parents worked as a detachment leader. After two years, his grades were mediocre.”

“He was in urgent need of merit transfer back to his original position, and my father’s case was the most direct reason why he was promoted during his tenure as detachment leader. Linxi, do you think your enemy is me or he?”

He’s words were extremely straightforward, like a conduit, draining out all the dark thoughts in Lin Xi’s mind.

It’s not that she hasn’t thought about all this that Yu Xiucheng said, no, it should be said that she has thought about it a long time ago.

But what Lin Xi never understood was what benefit his parents, as gangster policemen, had to his direct boss Yan Lang. He was not the beneficiary, and even the motive did not exist.

She was too weak, even now but not back then, she was still shut out by the public security system, and it was difficult to even touch her, and everything that could be investigated outside the public security system had been blown to ashes in that explosion.

    “What did you find out?”

    “Do you believe me, Linxi?”

Yu Xiucheng didn’t answer the question, and neatly took out a cigarette and lit it between his lips. As he spoke, the thick white smoke overflowed from his lips and teeth, and was blown away like mist by he.

But this seemingly random question was indeed asked at the most critical moment, and Lin Xi had no way of answering it.

Logically speaking, she should trust Yu Xiucheng. At least there would be no second person in her world who would kill someone for her without blinking an eye.But when she wanted to answer the letter, she really couldn’t justify it – even now she was still doubting whether there was any deeper meaning behind Yu Xiucheng’s question.

Yu Xiucheng held the cigarette between his fingers and looked at Lin Xi steadily. The sparks hidden in the tobacco engulfed the tobacco body bit by bit, turning into gray soot bit by bit between his fingers. He slowly stood up and walked to Lin Xi, putting the black amulet symbolizing death in his arms into Lin Xi’s hands.

He even grabbed Lin Xi’s hand to hold it, inserted her finger into the small hole of the trigger with his own hands, and then pointed the dark muzzle at his heart ventricle.

“I’ll give you a choice now.”

    Choice?

    “What choice?”

Lin Xi raised her eyes and met the man’s deep pool-like gaze. Through his black eyes, she saw herself with her eyes wide open and an expression of disbelief on her face.

    “You call this choice?”

This is not so much a choice as it is that Yu Xiucheng is risking his own life to force her to completely join the same camp as he.

She immediately pushed her hand forward with some annoyance, and the muzzle of the gun sunk in even harder, making a deep dent in Yu Xiucheng’s shirt.

“Do you really think I don’t dare?”

Yu Xiucheng finally felt the real emotion behind Lin Xi’s acting skills in Lin Xi’s expression at this moment.

He was in a surprisingly good mood even though he was held up by a gun: “Lin Xi, our purpose is the same.”

The man said and walked straight forward, holding Lin Xi at gunpoint and retreating. Finally, she had no way to retreat, and her back hit the floor-to-ceiling window. She looked in the direction of Yu Xiucheng’s gaze from the corner of her eye.

    Yan Lang.

“Eight years ago, he colluded with my father’s second-in-command and planned the bombing.” Yu Xiucheng’s eyes turned to the man on the first floor with a look of solemnity. “My father and your parents were all victims of their struggle for power.”

He lowered his gaze and looked at the woman who was biting her lower lip, the coldness in her eyes slightly restrained:

“Are you curious how I know this? The second in command said it before he died.”

As soon as the metal gun barrel pressed against his chest was loosened, Yu Xiucheng grabbed Lin Xijie’s hanging wrist and wrapped his palm around the woman’s hand and gun stock.

“As for how your parents got involved in this,”

He paused, the cruelty in his eyes undisguised.

“I will let Yan Lang tell you personally.”
