    Forty-seven: Capital City

Wen Shisan held back the bitterness in his heart and said in a hoarse voice, “Master, the water is ready. Do you want to take a bath now?”

The young master didn’t ask him to prepare water, but when he heard the moans coming from the room, he prepared the water on his own initiative. The young lady must have wanted to feel refreshed.

“Send them in,” Wen Yuheng said, holding a thin quilt in one hand to cover the two naked bodies, turning his back to the door.

Wen Shisan carried two buckets of hot water to the wooden bucket and poured it down. He quickly went out again and picked up two buckets. “Master, the water is ready.” After saying this, he quickly left and closed the door.

With a slight sigh, his figure disappeared.

The two of them took a long bath, had breakfast and walked around the temple.

After living the same life for three consecutive days, Ding Rou felt like she was going to die of suffocation.

After sneaking out on the first night, he wanted to go out in the same way the next night, but Wen Yuheng woke up as soon as he moved.

Wen Yuheng ordered the Anshen Incense on the first night. She felt that she slept well, but there were some movements around her that she could not detect at all. The next day, she asked the young monk to take the Anshen Incense away.

You can imagine what kind of life Ding Rou has been living these days. Originally, when a man is blind, his hearing is very good. After the eyes were treated, his hearing did not fade, but got better. So much so that he could detect even the slightest movement when Ding Rou slept at night.

“Cuckoo…” The cry of pigeons came from outside the window.

Wen Yuheng put down the brush in his hand and walked over to open the window. A dove flew to his arm and stood on it.He grabbed the pigeon with one hand and pulled out the roll tied under its claws.

Putting the pigeon on the desk, the little pigeon looked around curiously, obediently waiting for a reply.

The roll was made of wood and was hollow inside. He pulled out the white note and opened it. “Jian, I haven’t seen you for a long time. I miss you so much. It would be nice to come to the capital to see you. I won’t be able to leave for a while. You have good eyesight. You have never seen many prosperous places. It would be good to come to the capital to see you.”

He picked up the brush and wrote back, “Excellent, I’ll go to Beijing now.” After the ink dried, he gently rolled up the note and put it in the roll.

After stroking the pigeon’s head three times, the pigeon flapped its wings and flew out of the window, gradually disappearing from sight.

Wen Yuheng found Ding Rou at the back of the temple and told her to go to the capital.

The two bid farewell to the abbot in the temple and set off for the capital.

Wen Shisan was still driving the carriage, and he finally arrived in the capital two days later.

After entering the city gate, the penetrating shouts of vendors could be heard faintly, and occasionally there was a long neigh of a horse, as well as the conversation of pedestrians passing by. Ding Rou leaned in Wen Yuheng’s arms without any boredom.

“Sir, may I ask if this is the young master of the Wen family who is in the car?” The man’s hearty voice sounded from the surrounding area. He stood not far from the carriage with his fists in his hands.

Wen Shisan cupped his fists and replied, “Yes, may I ask who you are?” Looking at his figure and voice, this man must be from the army.

“Haha… Please let me wait. It was the general who asked me to pick up Master Wen. The general is at the school grounds and can’t leave for a while. Please…” After the man finished speaking, he made a gesture of invitation. He should lead the way first.

The man took (him) them to the general’s mansion, knocked on the door, and chatted with the housekeeper for a few words.

“Master Wen, the general’s residence has arrived. I will return to the military camp immediately.”

“Well, trouble.” Wen Yuheng’s voice, as gentle as the sun, came from the carriage.

The man clasped his fists towards the carriage again, turned around and strode away.

Master Wen’s voice was really nice, not like a general at all. The general was fine on weekdays, but when he was training people… the man shuddered. He had better go back to the military camp quickly.

The housekeeper in the general’s mansion welcomed the two of them into a courtyard and settled them down before being dismissed by Wen Yuheng.
