    Chapter Index

She slowed down her steps, walked around the man standing outside the threshold and walked sideways behind her mother.

    “What’s the matter?”

“Take me to see the room on the back floor. I still have food in the pot.”

    “Ah?!”

He Lu opened her mouth and became stupid.

“What are you doing?” Mother He frowned.

In fact, He Lu realized there was something wrong with her words as soon as she spoke them.

Because it was normal for her to show guests the room, but this time she was surprised.

But she didn’t know what was wrong with herself. Her body and heart were sending out a warning signal, and she felt that the man in front of her was dangerous…

Mother He, who turned off the heat when the vegetables were half cooked and came out to greet the guests, was even more speechless.

“Then you go stir-fry, and I’ll take someone to watch.”

    “Uh…”

He Lu glanced at the man briefly, and saw that the man was also looking at her, and his eyes had a look of leisure, and she felt a little embarrassed.

“I’ll get the key.” He Lu said and ran into the main hall.

She quickly walked behind the counter and just put her schoolbag on the chair when she heard her mother smile and say sorry.

The man didn’t say anything, he just laughed softly, as if it didn’t matter.

He Lu felt even more embarrassed when she thought that she had reacted so violently and looked very reluctant just now.

She opened the drawer, took out the key, walked around the counter to the door with her head lowered, and pointed behind the man.

“Go that way to the backstairs.” She’s voice was stiff.

The man raised his eyebrows slightly, turned his head and looked behind him. He Lu stepped out of the threshold, walked around the man and walked forward.

He Lu’s homestay is composed of two two-story buildings, one in front of the other and one in the back. There is a small rectangular courtyard between the two buildings, and the two buildings are surrounded by high walls.

Usually when people come, they like to live in the building at the back. Not only is it clean, there is a small courtyard right outside the door, but the private space is also better.

He Lu walked several steps before the sound of footsteps sounded behind her. Knowing that the man was following her, she lowered her head and walked away.

Cheng Yaokun naturally saw that the little girl leading the way was afraid of him, but he didn’t care much about it and just kept three steps away from the girl.

Turning the corner and broadening his horizons, Cheng Yaokun glanced at the small pool and rockery in the middle of the courtyard, as well as the rectangular pavilion made of logs next to it. He was very satisfied with the environment.

“You guys did a good job.”

When a low, hoarse voice reached his ears, He Lu felt his skin shuddering as if it was electrified, and the hairs on the back of his neck and arms stood up one by one.

“Uh… it’s okay, okay.” He Lu whispered back. She stood still in front of the small building, not daring to look at the man. She lowered her eyes and said, “Well, there’s no one around now. The rooms are all empty. Do you want to live upstairs or downstairs?”

“Downstairs.” Cheng Yaokun simply walked past He Lu and walked to the door of the room on the left, “Look at this room.”

He Lu quickly picked up the big bunch of keys in her hand and walked to the door.

Cheng Yaokun was standing in front of the door. As soon as she passed by, the distance between the two people instantly narrowed, and the invisible sense of oppression came up again.

She lowered her head, found the key to B03 and went to open the door, but her hands were shaking a little, and she couldn’t insert the key into the keyhole after inserting it twice…

Suddenly, a vague sigh floated from the side of the head. He Lu’s face felt hot and her ears felt hot.

Seeing He Lu’s originally white little ears turn red instantly, Cheng Yaokun’s eyes flashed with interest. He turned sideways and looked at the benches and tables in the wooden shed, not wanting to put too much pressure on her.
