    Chapter Index

Hua Li was fifteen years old when she entered the imperial palace, which was considered a late marriage in the Yan Dynasty where early marriages were practiced. Her husband, the emperor, was only one year older than her, so the young couple did not have much friendship.

However, the emperor liked her, after all, she had a face that charmed the common people.

That year, a young man emerged from the military town in the North who was extremely skilled in military skills. He was highly valued by the imperial court and fought against foreign enemies. He was invincible in battles and soon became famous all over the world.

Hua Li still had nothing to show for her third year as queen, but the two sisters sent to the palace by the North War God became pregnant one after another. The emperor was overjoyed, and both of them were concubines, and they rarely set foot in the palace again.

For a time, some people advised Hua Li to kill him early, while others advised Hua Li to endure in secret, but she laughed it off. She had never put the emperor in her heart, and naturally she didn’t care who he was blessed with. As long as he was safe, she could indulge him in anything.

Another two years have passed. The former young God of War was granted the title of King with a different surname due to his outstanding military exploits. He was worshiped by millions of people, held a large number of soldiers, and had an unattainable status.

The palace banquet in autumn was grand, but Hua Li did not attend. The people sent by the emperor to invite them were blocked one by one by her emissaries.

There are many stone mountains beside Taiye Pool, most of them are man-made peaks and dangerous walls. Small waterfalls are flying and flowing, and hundreds of flowers are blooming. The scenery is not bad. Walking on the deep and cold winding road, Huali tightens her grip on the paper ball in her hand.

But after walking for a long time, there was no one in sight, and her feet were sore, so she rested under the stone wall, stroking her sore knees with both hands, and the gloomy look on her face gradually became stronger.

Suddenly, there were very light footsteps beside her, and she subconsciously looked back. The tall figure was already standing close to her, staring at each other. She was shocked by the eagle-like eyes, and she gasped lightly.

    Neither of them spoke.

The man walked to the front of her, squatted down quickly, and his figure in the prince’s python suit was as powerful as a giant mountain pressing down on her. His big palms reached under the golden phoenix skirt, and he accurately held Huali’s feet. He took off the phoenix shoes with pearls and flowers on them, and carefully rubbed her feet through the silk socks.

    “Presumptuous!”

Hua Li shouted and tried to struggle, but he pinched her hard, causing severe pain in her ankle.

There were tears in her eyes. Compared to her usual aloof and cold temperament, it was this softness that made people uncontrollably want to go crazy.

The man massaged her feet calmly, but Huali was in too much pain and did not dare to move anymore. The soreness and fatigue from walking for a long time was gone, but her ankles felt as if they had been crushed by him.

    “Get away!”

Unable to bear it anymore, she raised her foot and kicked him on his shoulder. Her words were full of disgust and displeasure.

The man stood motionless, and she kicked her foot on his shoulder. The auspicious patterns of the unicorn, sun and moon were wrinkled. He suddenly raised his head, looked at Huali with his immersed dark eyes, and smiled.

    “I’m back, Xiaoli.”
