    Chapter Index

Since Gu Yuanhui’s parents started doing business more than ten years ago, he has never had a bowl of porridge specially cooked for him.

This kind of ordinary thing disappeared from Gu Yuanhui’s life for a time. Sometimes he would be a little envious of his classmates for the most ordinary daily life, but that was all.

His parents worked hard to provide him with a comfortable life. He always had the most pocket money among his classmates, and he never went hungry.

Gu Yuanhui is a grateful person. He sees his parents’ sleepless nights and forgets to eat and sleep. He knows how hard they work, so he can’t use a lot of pocket money to complain that they don’t have time to take care of him.

There has to be a limit to pretentiousness. He, Gu Yuanhui, can’t do that.

Later, there was an aunt in the family who took care of his daily life, and Gu Yuanhui’s living requirements were stable and guaranteed. However, he also knew that taking care of him was the aunt’s job and did not involve family ties, so he tried not to cause trouble to her.

Such days have passed for a long time, and Gu Yuanhui no longer has any sense of psychological expectation for anything.

He is not picky about food, nor is he allergic to any food. He does not have many requirements for what he puts in his mouth, as long as he can swallow it.

Gu Yuanhui had told himself over and over again that food was just consumables needed for life and had no special meaning. He should not ask his family to put down their work just to cook him a meal, which he actually didn’t really want.

However, at this moment, the fragrant lean meat porridge slid down his throat. The soft and glutinous rice grains and tender diced meat were mixed with each other. Together with the rising heat in the bowl, it stimulated Gu Yuanhui’s already numb heart from the inside out. Only then did he realize that he was wrong.

He is longing for it, longing for it but dare not say it.

But he clearly didn’t say it, but Chu Jiayun did it!

A small snapping sound attracted Chu Jiayun’s attention. She looked at the conspicuous water droplets on the table in astonishment. After being stunned for a second, she immediately took the bowl out of Gu Yuanhui’s hand.

“Stop eating!” She held his face with both hands, forcing him to raise his head, and asked like a barrage of questions: “Where does it hurt? Don’t move yet, I’ll call an ambulance!”

Gu Yuanhui caught her in time, “Don’t leave, I don’t feel any pain!”

“You’re crying!” Chu Jiayun never thought that Gu Yuanhui would cry too. She was flustered but wanted to try her best to stabilize his mood. “I will accompany you to the hospital and I will never leave you alone! Yuanhui, please let me go first. I’m just going to make a phone call!”

“Stop talking, really, stop talking!” Gu Yuanhui hugged her tightly and buried his head in Chu Jiayun’s chest like an ostrich, but he couldn’t hide his increasingly obvious choking and trembling. “I’m really fine. I, I just… want you to accompany me!”

She said she would stay with him, and she said she would never leave him alone!

Sickness can really make people weak. Gu Yuanhui seemed to see himself in different periods in the past, struggling in loneliness.

In fact, when he was sick, there were always people around him, but the company of nurses and nannies could not alleviate his loneliness, and sometimes even made him more unbearable.

Chu Jiayun is not a nanny or a caregiver, she is his girlfriend. She is purely worried about him, without any selfish purpose, but simply does not want to leave him.

He couldn’t control his tears and was so embarrassed that he didn’t dare to look up, “Let me hold you for a while, don’t move like this, just hold me for a while!”

Chu Jiayun touched the back of his neck, then reached into his pajamas along the collar and touched his back. His body temperature had indeed dropped. While she breathed a sigh of relief, she realized belatedly…

Her boyfriend seems to be acting coquettishly?

The man who had always been strong and outstanding suddenly became soft and fragile. Chu Jiayun’s heart was melted by him. He was still sick now. Let alone just hold him for a while, she would agree to stand here and let him hold her for a whole day!

“Well, I’m here!” Chu Jiayun gently stroked Gu Yuanhui’s hair and comforted him gently, “I’m always here. You can hold me for as long as you want!”
