    186. Dinner for two

Because Xu Jingtang had to go to the hospital later, he sent Gu Pan home. Gu Pan thought that today was the day when Gu Chengjue would come back, so he planned to go to the supermarket to buy some ingredients.

After all, Gu Pan couldn’t bear to let Gu Chengjue, who had been bumpy on the bus for two hours, go buy groceries again.

So before leaving, Gu Pan specially sent a message to Gu Chengjue, telling him to go home directly when he got back and stop buying groceries.

Gu Chengjue was so happy when he saw the news at school that he couldn’t close his mouth. Then he suppressed the excessive smile on his face and replied to Gu Pan: “Be careful when choosing ingredients. Don’t keep looking at one side. When you get home, you will find that half of it is rotten.”

Gu Pan, who was in the supermarket, could only curl his lips when he saw Gu Chengjue giving the same answer as Gu’s mother.

    “I know! You’re so annoying!”

As a result, Gu Chengjue smiled even more happily when he saw his sister’s explosive reply.

In the evening, when Gu Chengjue returned home, he saw Gu Pan showing him bags of the things he bought like offering treasures.

“Look, this bag of tomatoes is great! It’s red and big! And all the ones I picked are perfect!”

“Look again! This green pepper, wow! It’s green and long. When I weighed it, the aunt said I chose it well!”

“And this beef, the uncle who cut it assured me that it was absolutely fresh!”

Gu Chengjue almost died laughing. He felt that Gu Pan had not changed since he was a child. He was still the little brat who would chase after his butt with his own snacks and show off like a treasure.

Looking at his younger brother who was bending over with laughter, Gu Pan’s desire to show off was not satisfied at all. He was so angry that he piled things into the kitchen and stood up when he came out.

    “What are you laughing at!”

“I laugh at you the same way you did in kindergarten!”

“You weren’t even born when I was in kindergarten! You brat!”

Having said that, Gu Pan actually used to show off to Gu Chengjue in kindergarten when he was in elementary school that he ate crispy noodles again today and got a flash card…

Hearing his sister calling him a brat, Gu Chengjue stepped forward and pressed Gu Pan against the locker in the entrance hall. He was still smiling, but his eyes had become serious.

    “Who’s the brat?”

    “I am a kid, I am a kid…”

Gu Pan is a person who is so cowardly that he doesn’t even know what principles are.

Gu Chengjue wasn’t really angry at first, he just wanted to scare Gu Pan, but it turned out that Gu Pan was so quick to admit his cowardice that he almost burst out laughing. However, when he looked down, he saw Gu Pan with his head hanging down and looking pitiful.

He Just hadn’t seen Gu Pan for several days, and it felt like he had been thinking about it for several years. I really don’t know how Gu Pan endured it during the four years when he went to college.

Although he really wanted to hug Gu Pan and express the longing in his heart first, the young man also knew at the same time that his sister was probably hungry.

So Gu Chengjue had no choice but to hold Gu Pan’s face and kiss Gu Pan’s slightly pouted mouth, “Okay, the vegetables are very good and they look fresh. What do you want to eat tonight?”

“Hehehe, I really want to eat beef brisket stewed with tomatoes and shredded pork with green peppers!”

Just buy the ingredients according to the dishes you want to eat.

“Didn’t you want to eat fish-flavored shredded pork before?”

“Yes, really? Well… humans are animals that change every day!”

Gu Chengjue didn’t want to talk about the theory of ‘nutrition balance’ anymore, so he dragged Gu Pan to the kitchen to help himself.

Although Gu Pan’s cooking skills are not impressive, he had happily bought the same set of aprons with Gu Chengjue because he found that the second apron in the supermarket was half price.

Gu Pan’s apron is pink with a pattern of a small flower on the front, while Gu Chengjue’s is pink and blue with a pattern of a small sun on the front.

At first, Gu Pan offered this apron to Gu Chengjue, but Gu Chengjue refused.

After all, aprons are already feminine enough, and with such colors and patterns…

But then he heard that he could wear the same style but different colors as Gu Pan, and the boy’s heart was immediately won over.

So now Pink Blue and Pink are standing side by side in the kitchen. Pink is washing tomatoes, while Pink Blue is boiling water and preparing to scald the tomato skins.

Gu Pan was indeed hungry. When he was washing vegetables, he looked at the red tomatoes and wanted to take a bite.

Gu Chengjue looked back and saw Gu Pan, whose eyes turned green as he stared at the tomato.

Isn’t this just like letting a dog look at meat?

Fortunately, Gu Chengjue had quick eyesight and quick hands and snatched the tomatoes, then threw them into the pot. He then approached the girl and kissed her on the cheek: “Don’t worry, it will be fine soon.”

Only then did Gu Pan realize that he was almost about to do something embarrassing, and he quickly sped up the movements of his hands, simply keeping his eyes out of sight.

While observing the tomatoes rolling in the water, the boy peeked out of the corner of his eye at his sister who was washing vegetables seriously.

The girl whose face softened under the warm yellow light in the kitchen was like his newlywed wife. Even if she didn’t say a word and was just doing what she was doing, it was enough to make the young man’s heart throb.

Father Gu and Mother Gu have always had a good relationship. When Mother Gu is busy in the kitchen, Father Gu will often come in to help. The two of them stand side by side just like Gu Pan and Gu Chengjue now. Occasionally, their heads come together and they whisper a few words.

That was the initial look of love in Gu Chengjue’s heart.

“Okay, okay, what else do you need to wash?”

After Gu Pan washed the small basket of green peppers, he turned around and stuffed it into Gu Chengjue’s arms, and then began to look around for work.

“I’ll do the rest. You go and sit over there.” Gu Chengjue took the basket and pointed to the kitchen table, “You can eat a piece of ham sausage to cushion your stomach before I cook.”

When Gu Pan heard this, he jumped away happily.

Then he held up a ham sausage and started watching Gu Chengjue’s performance.

After the food was served, while Gu Pan was devouring it, he suddenly remembered the call that Gu’s mother called him this morning.

“By the way, Cheng Jue, I have to go home next week. The news of this terrorist attack is overwhelming, so I have to go home to report that I am safe.” Gu Pan still had a big mouthful of beef brisket in his mouth, and his speech was unclear.

Because the school was not on holiday, it was obviously unrealistic to accompany him back, so Gu Chengjue swallowed the food in his mouth and said: “Then you should be more careful on the way. Send your things back in advance instead of taking them yourself.”

“I know!” Gu Pan swallowed the beef brisket, “This time I will go home and rest for a day before coming back. I will also go to see how grandma is doing recently.”

But speaking of things, after Gu Pan had eaten, he went into the room and took out the macaron gift box and chocolate gift box he bought for Gu Chengjue.

    “Qiang Qiang!”

Gu Pan carefully held two beautifully packaged boxes in front of Gu Chengjue: “Look, this is a macaron, and this is a handmade chocolate. I tried one, it’s super delicious!”

Gu Chengjue was still washing the dishes, his hands full of soap suds: “For me?”

“Yes, I also bought you two pairs of clothes. You can try them on later!” Gu Pan said and put the box on the dining table. “I think it is the style you like. I just don’t know if you have grown taller. I got it according to your previous size…”

Gu Pan was still chattering, but Gu Chengjue was a little absent-minded.

In fact, he never cared about what his sister would bring back from abroad. After waiting for a week, he just wanted to see her earlier.

As he talked, Gu Pan realized that his brother’s clothes were as good as ever today. The large beige turtleneck made the boy look clean and warm.

Gu Pan felt a strange urge to go over and hug him.
