    Chapter Index

The arm was so stiff that it didn’t feel like it was his own.

Baili’s whole brain was like a pot of boiling water, bubbling and bubbling.

The man’s wrist was strong, holding her forearm and moving forward. She heard him keep telling people that he had borrowed it, and his voice was low and nice.

While he was registering, Baili stood beside him, his head always hanging, shoulders slumped, not daring to raise his head or look around.

Shen An took the registration form, stared at it for a while, then reached out to pull her, and when he pulled her, he encountered her soft hand. He lowered his eyes and saw that her hand was very small, and it fell into his palm. It was a small one, with thin and white fingers.

    Soft to the touch.

“Sorry.” He let go, moved up a few centimeters, and clasped her wrist through the sweater.

Baili was so frightened that her heart was beating wildly and the heartbeat was deafening. She tried her best to calm down, but her voice was very nervous, “…No, it’s okay.”

Shen An felt her pulse beating very fast under his palm, and the corners of his lips curled up unconsciously. He pulled her towards the elevator. There were already four or five people standing inside. When he came over, someone still stood in to make room for him.

He pulled Baili in and pressed the floor.

On the third floor, someone was about to go out. Bai Li was pushed by the person behind her, and her whole body tensed up. She shrank her shoulders and was about to lean against the metal door of the elevator when someone hugged her shoulders.

Shen An held her in front of him, let go, and stood behind her.

She lowered her head nervously, her whole body seemed to have been thrown into a stove, and she was covered in sweat.

When they reached the fourth floor, Shen An didn’t say anything, he just grabbed her wrist and pulled her out.

The long corridor was filled with patients and accompanying family members. Nurses in white clothes were busy walking in the corridor. There were only a few people sitting in the waiting area of the neurology clinic. Shen An had just handed the registration form to the nurse and heard the number being called within a few minutes.

He pulled Baili towards the expert’s office. The expert was a middle-aged man in his fifties. His hair was very bald, with only a few hairs hanging stubbornly on his scalp.

He asked about the situation and asked Baili to take off his hat and show him the wound.

While Bai Li was fidgeting, Shen An had already leaned over. He reached out and took off her hat, brushing the hair from her forehead with his warm palms, and pressed one hand in front of her eyebrows, blocking all her sight.

Her heart beat faster again, and her teeth clenched unconsciously.

She has long black hair, tied into a bunch at the back of her head. At this moment, she takes off her hat, revealing her pink ears and white neck.

The left side of her forehead has swollen into a big bump, which is particularly shocking when set off by the white and tender skin on the side.

“It’s quite swollen.” The expert looked at it with glasses on and asked Bai Li, “Are you dizzy? Do you feel nauseous?”

Bai Li shook her head slightly.

The expert sat in front of the computer and started typing, “If you are really worried, you can just take a CT scan. There should be no problem.”

Bai Li shrank her head and was about to reach out to put on her hat. Someone had already taken a step ahead and put her hat on for her. Her hands stopped in mid-air and her heart started beating wildly again.

Shen An pulled her to the waiting area and sat down. He patted the brim of her hat with one hand and said, “Wait here.”

He’s movements were very light, but Bai Li was still nervous and flustered by his movements. Through her sunglasses, her eyes dodge for a few times. Only when Shen An walked out of sight, she couldn’t help but raise her head and glance at his back.

He was very tall, wearing a white shirt and slacks. His sleeves were rolled up, revealing a small tattoo. After passing several family members, he seemed a little worried. He suddenly turned around and looked in Bai Li’s direction.

Bai Li was startled, she quickly looked away and retracted her entire head into her arms.

When Shen An came back after paying the fee, she still maintained this posture. The corners of his lips twitched almost imperceptibly, and he stretched out his hand to clasp her wrist and pull her up, “Let’s go.”

The wrists under the sweatshirt were so thin that they seemed to have only bones left.

Shen An was worried that he would accidentally crush her if he was too strong.

Before taking the CT scan, Bai Li stood behind Shen An, with other family members and patients beside him. Someone looked at her, and she turned slightly sideways, facing the wall.

The nurse opened the door and called her name.

Baili’s whole body trembled, and just as she was about to go in, someone grabbed her wrist.

She looked up uneasily and saw the man’s straight nose through his sunglasses. He had extremely dark eyebrows and sharp bones. His voice was magnetic and sounded particularly pleasant to her ears.

    “Don’t be afraid.”

“I’ll wait for you at the door.”
